Matthew Celentano is a New York City based producer, writer, and director.

His passion for storytelling was born out of his love of football (the one played with feet). As a kid, he spent summers playing pickup at Pier 40, a vast astroturf that sits on the Hudson River. Inspired by games played with an eclectic array of people, from off-duty postal workers to ex-pros, he wanted to tell stories about the beautiful game and its strange, brilliant, often hilarious characters. When he would watch his beloved Arsenal from afar, he saw the diverse vibrancy of Pier 40 reflected on his screen: a Spanish maestro combining with a Russian enigma; a Cameroonian joker teeing up a Dutch wizard.

A decade later, he’s a producer and director for The Players’ Tribune, telling the stories of UEFA Champions League winners, WNBA MVPs, MLS, NBA, and NFL players. As a branded content producer, he brings athletes’ narratives to life while tastefully amplifying brands’ messaging, working with partners across the globe including Audi, BODYARMOR, DAZN, Hyundai, Citibank, DoorDash, and many more.

In his spare time, he takes photos, reads books by Haruki Murakami, and thinks about who Arsenal should sign.
